Long-time Barbershopper and Commodore, Dave Speidel got his start in 1976 with the Winnebagoland Chorus in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. His skill, desire, and motivation to fully immerse himself in this “hobby” have led to the following notable list of accomplishments along the way:

Became the director of Winnebagoland along with a BOTY award

Following a move to Madison, Wis., joined the Capitol Chordsmen and became and Assistant Director and section leader

Moved to Milwaukee in 1981 and joined the Greendale Chapter. Became and Assistant Director and started his quartet career. Was fully involved with the Board, Music Committee, and served as a show chairman as well.

1989 was a founding member of the new Greendale/Midwest Vocal Express chapter. Was the first chapter president, first Show Chairman, and BOTY winner. Sang with the Chord Sharks quartet, a very popular show quartet.

1997 moved to Minneapolis and joined GNU. Also sang in Reprise quartet

2007 joined the Minneapolis Commodores. In addition to serving as an Assistant Director, he has been on the Music Team, section leader, and multiple time show chairman. He has also served as the LOL District VP of Music and Performance. Sang in numerous quartets: Metro Chords, Hot Commodity, and currently Silver Screen.

2010, Helped lead the effort to establish the Northern Pines Harmony Brigade. Now in its eighth year, this very successful and important brigade attracts singers from across the country. Due to the very significant number of Commodores who regularly participate at the event each year (15-18 members), the Chorus has been a huge beneficiary of the benefits that come from a fully immersive quartet singing experience.
